The original Atlantic Food Mart was one store of a small chain called Atlantic Butchers of New England. This chain was closing and selling out its stores, and in 1922 George Rubin, father of Sidney Rubin, Grandfather of Arnold Rubin, purchased this small store. At that time the entire store was only 1,500 square feet. Since that time there have been seven remodeling and expansions, the latest one being in 1998. Naturally as Atlantic Food Mart grew, so did the number of associates. Atlantic now employs about 200 people.

Its management is committed to continued growth and realizes that its associates are its most valuable asset. Atlantic Food Mart's pledge to it's customers is to offer to them a supermarket where, because of their skills, attitude, and pride in themselves as well as their organization, ASSOCIATES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
